At RCCC, we believe that the environment is a key aspect of the successful learning experience for young children. We strive to create an environment that feels homelike, represents the children who learn in the space, and is beautiful, clean, and safe. We also believe in a “yes environment” where children are still expected to follow appropriate boundaries and expectations, but educators allow children to follow their curiosities and explore things in the way that makes sense to them. Learning in an “yes environment” supports children’s abilities to make positive choices and have a sense of control over their lives. It also supports teacher to child relationships, limits teacher intrusions, increases authentic learning experiences, and supports children’s autonomy and independence.
Our classrooms will be used as shared spaces with MiddUCC. We have a shared use agreement that includes how we will share the space respectfully and collaboratively. To ensure both RCCC and the Church feel connected to their space, we will not take down materials on the wall. All religious materials are the property of the Church and will not be referenced to the children attending RCCC.
